Avatar Post

Born and raised in France, I have been taught the values of the French Republic but I also learnt from the country’s roots where in the past, the monarchy was in place. This crown represents power but also justice where from his throne, the king overlooks his country and maintains all functions in order.

Through this avatar, I wanted to portray myself as a fair person who has opinions that I am willing to share with everyone. I am a very caring person, trying to understand everyone in the best way possible just like a king does for his country. The colors chosen for this symbol all represent different characteristics. The yellow with the Sun conveys one of the major Kings who ruled France: “Le Roi-Soleil” also named Louis XIV.  The blue gems mirror the color of the lily which is an emblem of the french royalty. Furthermore, the color red represents the people. Overall, both of these colors, blue and red, embody Paris.

The major difficulty I encountered in creating this image was the process of using Photoshop which I had never used before.

Siberian Tiger Avatar

My avatar, as it is clear, is a Siberian tiger. I chose this because tigers are my favorite animal. Everything about tigers appeals to me; with their beautiful orange color and their prominent strength, tigers are astounding animals. Siberian tigers are the world’s largest cats and, to me, they are an inspiration. I long for the day when I have the personality that resembles that of a tiger. Not scared of being alone, but instead able to thrive due to my own accomplishments and hard work. So, I decided to make my avatar a Siberian tiger, not because it’s a reflection of who I am, but rather it is a representation of who I want to be. I wrote “Niky” on the image to be able to start believing more in myself and working on achieving my goals with the personality of a tiger.

Badge

My badge consists of three distinct layers that embodies my personality, interests, and overall self. The background image was originally a brown and gray mixture, but I altered the color scheme to add radiance to the icon. Anyone who has ever met me would consider myself a vibrant and bubbly spirit. Therefore, I thought a storm of loud colors meshed together in unison would be highly appropriate. The bright neon “G” is the second layer of my badge and it definitely screams for attention. The darker colors surrounding this flash of light in the center illustrates the lingering light I hope to carry despite all the calamities I may face. The last and final layer of the icon is of myself looking towards the sky. I chose this particular picture because I constantly make an effort to think positively without looking down on myself or others. It was difficult at first to combine a series of images that capture my complex character. I struggled  finding specific pictures for my icon until I realized that pictures of one’s personality could not be found in the media. I had to paint my own puzzle pieces to make an icon that illustrates my unique set of interests, traits and values.

My Avatar Picture

From all the pictures that I have, I feel that this one will carry out the job of being my avatar the best. It was taken during one of my high school activities, called Friendship Day. The girl near me is now one of my closest and dearest friends, yet at that moment we did not know each other that well. In fact this picture marks the start of our friendship (which is why I decided to use it). We were assigned a person, told to pick a theme and dress up for it to showcase your new found friendship. My friend and I decided to go for horror and as a result won a prize for the least friendly pair. Being so horrible at the event and hating on all the other successful and cute pairs brought us closer together and we bonded. This picture is important to me as it reminds me of a funny yet touching story that I experienced. In terms of creating an avatar, it was relatively hard. I am not a very technology smart person, so I settled in for the easiest version of having just a simple picture to represent me.

My badge

Here’s the link I used to create my avatar: charat.me

This is a girl in the typical Asian clothing named “Mikofuku” (a type of dress ancient Japanese druidesses wear). It indicates my cultural identity as Asian, and also expresses my passion towards Japanese ACG (Animation, Comics, &Games). I’ve seen wise men using games as a medium to promote culture, and appreciating that, I look forward to conveying the beauty of my homeland to my classmates, as well as embracing their culture through interaction.

Also, the typical features of the girl suggest the theme of this class. I tried to make it look more like characters in gal games. The fire surrounding her might be her unique skill.

I hope that everyone could like this avatar: )! Personally, I think it’s quite cute!
